Larry Chang Years of study in Religious Science and the dharma have given Larry Chang a thorough grounding in metaphysics and spirituality. In the course of his work as an intuitive counselor and speaker, he collected and used many illuminating quotations which he shares in Wisdom for the Soul: Five Millennia of Prescriptions for Spiritual Healing.
Larry has been, in turn and simultaneously, an artist, designer, editor, activist, trader, consultant and restauranteur - and now publisher. Exiled from Jamaica in 2000, he was granted asylum based on sexual orientation by the US, where he lived in Washington, DC. He now resides in Lisbon, Portugal.
He had been working on a novel but he put that aside to compile Wisdom which won the 2006 USABookNews Best Books Award for Non-Fiction Anthology. He subsequently completed Wisdom for the Soul of Black Folk, and is currently working on three other projects for publication by Gnosophia. He has written essays, poetry, blogs and hosts a website promoting the Jamaican language. He is very active in Facebook groups around Jamaican language and culture.
Larry became involved in the area of urban sustainability when he founded EcolocityDC in 2008. Subsequently, he recognized that sustainability cannot be approached without addressing the economic exploitation and inequity made possible by the monetary system. In 2011, Larry devised what he considers to be a new economic paradigm based on a non-fungible value index, a comprehensive, global GDP, if you will, to manage all transactions.
The basic function of this approach will be to redefine value and reset relationships, which he sees as critical to reversing environmental decline and social inequity. He has published an outline of this system online at http://netplanetaryvalue.wordpress.com. This will be the subject of a future book.
